The Kindle Paperwhite is a front-lit Kindle e-book reader that offers improved contrast and enables users to more easily read in the dark compared to older backlit Kindle devices. The Kindle Paperwhite’s display is evenly light up by a bulb located on the top of the device that shines down on the display.

Have you forgotten the password of your Amazon Kindle Paperwhite? Still worried you'll never be able to access anything again? Don't worry; you can reset your e-reader to factory settings. But this process will delete all content you may have downloaded. You can redownload that content from Amazon's cloud; however, you will have to go through the set-up process again. Here's how to reset your Paperwhite.
1.            Tap the menu button, which looks like three horizontal lines. Then tap Settings.
2.            Tap the arrow next to Registration.
3.            Tap Deregister.
4.            Select OK to begin the factory reset operation.

(Don't be panic about losing your notes if you do the reset. The notes and highlights on Kindle books are backed up in the Cloud and will be available when you download the book again). 

Always keep in mind!
 You can't be able to reset a Kindle Paperwhite if the Kindle parental controls are set up.  Although, you can reset your Kindle by using "111222777" as the Parental Controls password.

To restart your Kindle Paperwhite (5th Generation) password, and any Kindle e-reader model 6th generation or newer:
             Press and hold the Power button for seven seconds until the Power dialog box seems.
             Tap Restart.

Note: If the Power dialog box doesn't seem, press and hold the power button for a full 40 seconds to restart your Kindle.

Congratulations! Wait until the whole operation will be finished.
You’ll need to re-download your Kindle store content after you re-register your device (and you’ll need Wi-Fi for that).
